While we wait for cole to get his game in, how does everyone feel about their team? Are you guys excited about them and just need some time to get comfortable or does your excitement for your squad end when you kickoff?
Personally, I feel like i have some talent to work with, especially on the defensive side of the ball. I feel I have a pretty strong secondary for a 1* team, and my production from the rest of my defense was surprising. With that being said, I was at home so that might have been the difference there. A road game will probably make all the difference.
Really had a sketchy first game on offense though. Felt like I should have been able to do more with the team than what I was able to accomplish. I'm hoping that that changes as the season goes along and I get more comfortable playing with this team, especially from my ground game.
Recruiting scares the $&^! out of me this year because I have a lot of graduating seniors and if they don't get replaced I could be in a boatload of trouble. I'm just hoping that I can get some base built with this year's class and get to a point where I can get maybe one starter out of the group this year going into next season.
Feel free to share your thoughts......these are the ramblings of a man in need of getting to.............Week 2...........Week 2...........2

Haha, I feel your pain Tex. I am still excited for my team, but mainly on defense. I was one of the few who started on the road, so I still have a chance to have a better showing. My defense didn't put up huge numbers, but I was able to hold NIU in check. I gave up 14 on their final two possessions, and that was pretty much because I just got blitz happy a bit. That, and some good ol' catch-up AI logic. But that was to be expected. Having a BYE week is going to stink a bit, but that will at least give me a chance to really focus on recruiting. No matter what, that is still my favorite aspect of the game.

Yeah, the recruiting aspect has always been a huge draw for me. And this years version of the recruiting is so much better than previous years. I am so glad that they did away with the random topics this year. The "wheel of coaching death" could kill you last year. Especially if you were trying to get that 4* or 5* and you landed on a bunch of stupid choices and had used up your 3 resets. What 1* school is going to talk about their crappy weight room for crying out loud when the recruit is interested in OU or FSU and their million dollar mecca weight rooms? Being able to pick what you want to talk about just makes sense. Not only that, but it really puts the focus on how you talk to the recruit. Since all the schools will have the opportunity to have really good conversations, being able to talk down another school and sway a recruits interest in a certain topic have become huge parts of the plan. Last year you just hoped you hit some of the high points when talking to a recruit. This year you know the high points, and you will definitely get to hit them, but you have to make him interested in them as well. Add in the scouting aspect of it and this years recruiting is top notch. In my offline dynasty that I am playing with UTSA (thank you very much Hotrod ) I have a couple of 2* recruits that have graded out somewhere in between 3* and 4*. There have been some busts as well. It gives you a sense of what you are getting into with a player before he shows up on campus. Need a burner at WR and he supposedly has 4.2 speed? Scout him and find out if he truly does, or find out he has 4.8 speed and focus on someone else. It definitely gives you an aspect in recruiting that has always been missing.

Yeah I love the new recruiting. Overall I feel balance on my team. My secondary feels strong, and my LB corps about average for a 1* but they both will need to be built up to get to where I want them.
My offense has surprised me so far. Aside from the fact that my starting HB broke his collarbone on the last play of the game for me putting him out for the season, I have had success on offense on the ground and the passing game will come along. I rushed for like 260 against EMU, so I was happy.

I tried to establish the run early against Wyoming, but they shut it down in the first half. It wasn't until the late third quarter that I got to running the ball and by then my defense had the game locked up. I did jusr enough on offense to win, but I wasnt real happy. When your offense scores as many points as your SS, We have issues. There is a ton of room for improvement though so that gives me hope.

I think the passing playstyle will be the hardest to adjust. If you want a mobile QB, but currently have a guy with high 50s, low 60s speed, running with him really isn't an option. Unless you go the whole season without being sacked, chances are you will end up with negative or very few yards at the end. I'm wondering if defenders can be recruited the same way. Like if your corners get a lot of picks, will better CBs be interested in your team? Very curious.

Good luck on your backup's Xeno. They can play their hearts out starting in WK 4.

Haha, the #2 back is solid, and the #3 is ok. Maybe the injury glitch from 12 is still around and I will have my starter anyways.

I was so pissed about that glitch because it never benefited me. I lost 3 total players to season ending injuries, and a 4th for more than half a season. Everyone else seemed to get those players back the very next week. Total BS there man

I don't know about Texas, but it's definitely a Vandals thing. And besides, whay better way to send a message to your opponent than blowing up starting players? Stealing mascots and papering trees is for beginners!

Haha fortunately the backups are able to get the job done. Just played a scrim against bribri and dubbed in my backups for the game to see and they did just fine
